Acting Manager

Danielle is a dedicated and compassionate professional who values the strong sense of family and community within the organisation. She believes in creating an environment where everyone is valued, supported, and genuinely cared for. Surrounded by a highly supportive team at every level, Danielle takes great pride in working in beautifully located homes and feels privileged to support the remarkable young people in their care.

She brings a wealth of experience and a strong educational background to her role, holding a BA (Hons) in Primary Education with QTS. Danielle has also completed a wide range of specialist training and qualifications, including:

Level 4 Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care

Level 3 Health and Social Care – Children and Young People

Level 3 Health and Social Care

Currently working towards Level 5 in Leadership and Management

In addition, Danielle is trained in DSL (Designated Safeguarding Lead) responsibilities and has completed all mandatory training, including supervision and appraisal, safer recruitment, and PPR (Positive and Proactive Response). Her commitment to continuous professional development and high standards of care makes her a valued member of the team.

Laura Rigby

Deputy Manager

With over 10 years of experience in both educational and residential settings, Laura is a dedicated and compassionate Team Leader at Phoenix. She is passionate about creating a safe, supportive, and loving environment where every child feels valued and at home.

Laura leads her team with empathy and consistency, ensuring each young person receives the care and encouragement they need to thrive. Known for her calm presence and commitment to positive outcomes, she plays a key role in helping children build confidence, develop life skills, and feel empowered in their journey.

Carla Mackin

Registered Manager

7 years working with YPs in this role. 12 months working with adults and children with autism, Asperger's and down syndrome.

 

Carla was interviewed in November 2020 and successful with her promotion to senior support worker. Carla remains to be consistent in her role as team leader and eager to continue working on her development.

 

Carla was enrolled onto her level 5 leadership and management diploma in January 2022, and has been successful with a promotion to registered manager role within the home.

Heidi Gidman

Deputy Manager

Heidi has over 3 years experience working in residential children’s homes for young people with EBD.

 

Heidi has the ability and knowledge to safeguard young people and ensure that robust risk assessments are followed to meet the needs of young people in her care.

 

Heidi has completed her level 3 in residential childcare and is keen to work on her development for her future career within residential children’s home within Phoenix care and education.

Veronica (Roni) Dodd

Registered Manager

Roni has a wealth of over 20 years of experiences working in various residential settings, working with young people with acute emotional and behavioural difficulties. She started as a Residential Support Worker and has successfully climbed the social care ladder resulting in becoming a senior Deputy Manager then on to managing her own home. She has responsibility for the running of the Home, included decision making about staffing, finances, policy and procedures.

Roni is outgoing, friendly and has a great understanding on how to support everyone. She is an extremely popular member of the staff team with colleagues and young people.

 

Roni has a level 3 Diploma in childcare, and is working towards her level 5 in leadership and management. She has full confidence in herself and our staff team in providing a high standard of service provision, providing stability and continuity in going above and beyond, striving to improve all the time and working together with all relevant professionals on our journey moving forward.

Laura Hill

Deputy Manager

Laura is a deputy manager at she has over 7 years’ experience working with children and young people with behavioural and emotional difficulties. Laura has 2 years’ experience of providing support in a semi-independent setting for 16–18-year-old young people. Laura presents as a positive role model for young people in her care and is an extremely popular member of the staff team with colleagues and young people. Laura has a passion for supporting young people to achieve their goals in life, Laura has enrolled onto her level 5 leadership and management and is eager to climb the ladder to the role of a manager in the near future

Helen McGregor

Registered Manager

Helen began her career in 2006 as a Customer Service Officer, gradually progressing to management over the course of 16 years. After transitioning to Operations Management, where she honed skills in running a business successfully, Helen realized her true passion was working directly with people. This led her to manage two homes for asylum-seeking children before joining Phoenix Care and Education.

In January 2025, Helen took on the role of Manager at Phoenix's newest children’s home, a position she was eager to accept. Despite being new to the company, she has quickly embraced the experience and is excited about the future. With extensive qualifications, including a Level 3 Designated Safeguarding Lead and a Level 3 Diploma in Child Psychology, Helen brings a wealth of expertise to her role, ensuring the best care for the children in her charge.

Outside of work, Helen enjoys going to the gym, watching the Wigan Warriors, and spending quality time with her friends and family.
